Pregnancy Update: 25 Weeks

24 Weeks

It’s been a while since I posted about my pregnancy and it’s going by in a flash, so I figured I’d share an update today. As of today, I am exactly 25 weeks along (the picture above is from a week ago). In a few more weeks I’ll be starting my third trimester, and in just 15 more weeks, we’ll be welcoming a new addition to our family! It’s truly hard for me to comprehend. This pregnancy has gone by so much faster than the first and I think it’s largely because I already have a little one this time around to focus so much of my attention on. With a rambunctious toddler, I almost forget sometimes that I’m even pregnant! What a difference from the first time around, where I was obsessing about every little thing (if you missed my post about pregnancy anxiety, you can read that here)!

So…what’s been going on lately? Here’s a quick rundown of my pregnancy over the past month.

Health: This has been a relatively good month overall because I didn’t come down with any major bugs or colds (knock on wood!), but I did have an annoying sinus infection a couple weeks ago that left me feeling pretty lousy for a couple days. I’d never had one before but apparently pregnancy makes you more susceptible. Fun times! The symptoms are largely gone, but I still have periods of discomfort during certain times of day, which I’m hoping will subside very soon. In the meantime, I’ve been drinking lots of herbal tea and using a warm gel mask for my face, which feels amazing. Why I waited so long to buy one of them is beyond me!

Last Prenatal Appointment: This was a much quicker appointment than the past few because I didn’t have an ultrasound or any blood work done. I was pretty much in and out. Everything looked good though and I’m excited for my appointment next month where I’ll get to see the baby on the big screen again! I’m also going to be doing the gestational diabetes test, which is something I’m NOT looking forward to, but it was easy the first time around and I’m hoping I’ll have the same experience again this time.

Weight Gain: I haven’t weighed myself since my appointment a couple weeks ago because I don’t particularly enjoy seeing the numbers on the scale creep up, but let’s just say that I’ve gained about as much weight as I am weeks pregnant. If I continue at this rate, I’ll be up about 40 pounds by my due date. I’m not pleased about it, but my doctor assures me my gain is totally fine so I’m trying not to stress. I gained in the same way with Jackson so I think this is just the normal range for me and my body. I’m trying to focus on eating mostly healthy foods to ensure I’m getting the nutrients I need, but I’m eating significantly more than usual because my appetite is so much bigger.

Food Cravings: Speaking of food, the only craving I’ve been having that is pretty out of the ordinary for me is for spicy brown mustard. I can’t seem to get enough! Typically a container will last forever in the fridge, but I went through a bottle in a few weeks. I just bought a giant two-pack at Costco to see me through the rest of my mustard craving! We’ll see how much longer it lasts. Hey, there are worse things I could be eating, right?

High point: Up until a couple weeks ago, I still wasn’t feeling much movement from the baby. I have an anterior placenta so it can take longer and be more difficult to feel sensations. Very recently though, I’ve started feeling much more frequent and forceful movements, and it’s the best feeling ever! This is by far my favorite part of pregnancy and I’m glad that I’ve gotten to a point where I can feel the baby regularly.

Low point: My low point for the month would have to be the sinus infection, which left me seriously cranky and rundown.

I think that’s about all there is to report! I’ll share another update after my appointment next month. In the meantime, I’d love to hear about any bizarre food cravings you may have had in a past pregnancy or are having now if you’re currently pregnant. Am I the only one who is crazy over spicy brown mustard?!

  1. You are so lovely! I’m currently 33 weeks and don’t really have cravings, but I had plenty aversions earlier on. Though I must admit, when you mentioned spicy brown mustard that sounded pretty darn good. Enjoy the next fifteen weeks! I have a toddler and a three year old and I know it can be tough, but nothing beats that baby’s movement!
