Exactly one week from today we’ll be meeting our little girl. That is, unless she decides to make her debut early! I have a c-section scheduled for next Wednesday, at which point I’ll be 39 and a half weeks, so there’s a chance I could go into labor beforehand. Since I’ve been so on the fence about whether to schedule another c-section or try for a regular birth, I decided to schedule the surgery a little late (they usually do them at the 39 week mark) to give my body the opportunity to possibly go into labor on its own. If it does, I’ll try to let nature take its course and deliver naturally. As of right now though, I have no signs of early labor, so my guess is that won’t happen. I’m just going to go with the flow and see what happens. Either way, I’ll be holding a baby in my arms very soon and I couldn’t be more excited!
We’re pretty much set at this point in terms of items we need to buy for the baby. I do have some cleaning I’d like to get done between now and next week, (okay, a lot of cleaning) but I have limited hours to get things done since most days I’m caring for Jackson, and I’ve been prioritizing naps over chores. Sometimes I feel guilty for napping instead of tackling my to-do list, but then I remind myself that in a matter of days I won’t be sleeping much for many months to come, so I should get all the sleep I can now! New-mom exhaustion is no joke. Cleaning aside, my main goal for the next several days is to savor this remaining time together as a family of three, and soak up all the one-on-one time I can with Jackson. While I’m over the moon about welcoming a new baby into the family, it’s bittersweet that my alone time with Jackson will be coming to an end. I really hope the transition isn’t too difficult for him. If you have any tips on how to make the adjustment easier for an older sibling, please do share them!
On that note, I’ll leave you with some pictures from Mother’s Day that I never got around to posting about. These are about as close to maternity shoot pictures as I’m going to get!
